| MAX. Potter's Wheels |
| |
The challenge
Roderveld was asked to create an electronic potter's wheel that would develop the possibilities of such a machine to a maximum, and in doing so, would far surpass the capabilities of any existing potter's wheel.
Roderveld accepted the challenge, and after two years of intensive research, design and testing results in a top quality wheel; the MAX.
The result
For a maximum of stability, it was decided to design a model with three legs and to use 4-mm thick metal. With this construction the MAX. Red 60 and MAX. Red 100 can easily manage a piece weighting 300 kg.
Maximum adaptability of the wheel to each potter's physical requirements was an important basic principle in designing the MAX.
By adjusting the height of the machine's legs and by adapting the "Roderveld seat" to the length of the potter's legs, the most comfortable working position can be obtained with plenty of space for his/her feet.
Throwing while standing is an extra sound advantage with the MAX. 60 and 100. Because the motor is positioned horizontally, it is possible to remove the legs from their supports and put the wheel on a table. This will save the potter's back, while its relaxed position can be maintained.
Protecting the environment was a criterion that determined the choice of parts and material for the wheel. We have chosen to use metal and wood instead of plastics as much as possible. The design of the wheel had to be beautiful as well as comfortable in use. The handy tabletop area is made from waterproofed plywood, easy to clean and provides space for a pail and tools.
